At SASA Malaysia, we believe that the arts and humanities play a crucial role in promoting solidarity and amplifying the voices of marginalized communities worldwide. By fostering global research networks and integrating local and indigenous perspectives, we strive to reshape research agendas, outputs, and outcomes, ultimately creating meaningful and equitable change.
Our project is part of the AHRC-funded SASA (South America and Southeast Asia) initiative, which involves a multidisciplinary collaboration among experts from Brazil, Malaysia, and the UK. Together, we harness regional and indigenous knowledge to identify priority areas, challenge existing structures, and influence the future of research in the arts and humanities.
Our Focus Areas:
- Women and girls
- Conflict/post-conflict, humanitarian protection and modern slavery
- Environmental Humanities
Through SASA, we address critical issues affecting marginalized communities by prioritizing local engagement and fostering equitable partnerships. By working closely with diverse communities, we aim to leave a lasting legacy of action-leadership and transformative change.
Our efforts also illuminate new pathways for funding opportunities, ensuring that arts and humanities research contributes to sustainable, inclusive development in Malaysia and beyond.
